Healthy Eating

The Food and Nutrition Department at Olympia Medical Center provides an assortment of meal choices to meet different medical needs and to please patient palates. We offer a variety of options according to the dietary preferences of our ethnically diverse patients, including Kosher meals.

Once you are admitted to the Hospital, you will receive a menu from which you can choose your meals for the next day. A member of the nutrition services staff will pick up your menu choices later in the day. When your menu is collected, please tell the nutrition services technician if you have personal food preferences or any food allergies. We take special care in ensuring that your food preferences are honored, within the scope of your physician’s diet order.

After you are admitted to the Hospital, your physician will write a diet order to meet your individual nutritional and medical needs. If your physician orders a special diet for you, your menu will have a brief explanation of that diet, example: Low sodium means “no added salt.” If you wish to discuss your diet in greater detail or to learn more about it, please contact our Clinical Dietitians at ext. 5264 from your room or at 323-932-5264 from an outside line.

Your meals will be served on the following schedule. Please not that tests or procedures for which your are scheduled may make it necessary to delay your meal.

Breakfast – 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.

Lunch – 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Dinner – 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Meals for Visitors

For friends or family members, Olympia Medical Center offers a Guest Meal service program available for a small price. To order a guest tray, please call the Nutrition Department at ext. 5210 from your room.

The Cafeteria

Visitors are welcome to enjoy meals in the Cafeteria, located on the first floor of the Main Hospital Building. The menu includes reasonably priced hot meals, salads, snacks, desserts, and beverages including sodas, juices, and coffee. They also offer discounted meals for seniors. 

Open Monday through Friday:

Breakfast – 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.

Lunch – 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Closed on Saturday and Sunday but sandwiches, snacks, and beverages are available 24-hours a day from the vending machines located in the Cafeteria.
