Medical Director
Mehrdad Vosoghi, M.D., F.A.C.G.

Mehrdad Vosoghi, M.D., F.A.C.G. is the Medical Director of the California Digestive Diseases Institute at Olympia Medical Center. He is specially trained in ERCP and EUS (endoscopic ultrasound).

He completed his undergraduate and graduate education at the University of Los Angeles, California (UCLA). He received his Bachelor’s degree in Biology and a Master’s degree in Biological Chemistry, both magna cum laude. He graduated from the Finch University of the Health Sciences/The Chicago Medical School in 1999 after his undergraduate studies at UCLA. He received a Master’s degree in Physiological Sciences from Finch University.

He completed his residency in internal medicine at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and continued his fellowship in gastroenterology at UCLA-Harbor Medical Center. He has conducted research and co-authored publications since 1992. He has published his research in EUS studying the patient experience with EUS guided pancreatic pseudocyst drainage and literature review of pancreatic pseudocyst management. In this study, he compared the success rate, recurrence rate, morbidity, and mortality of surgical, percutaneous, transpapillary, and transenteric drainage of pancreatic pseudocysts.

He has brought EUS (endoscopic ultrasound) to Olympia Medical Center. EUS is an exciting combination of ultrasound and endoscope to form an advanced diagnostic and therapeutic modality for examination of the GI tract, pancreas, and liver. EUS allows FNA (fine needle aspiration) of tissue and has become the “gold standard” for diagnosing and staging of various tumors. He has also used EUS to perform numerous celiac plexus neurolysis for pain management in patients with chronic pancreatitis or pancreatic cancer.

Khoi Nguyen, NP, MSN, Program Manager

Khoi Nguyen is the Program Manager and Nurse Practitioner at the California Digestive Diseases Institute. He joined the California Digestive Diseases Institute in 2016. Khoi is fluent in both English and Vietnamese.

Khoi's nursing experience includes hospital inpatient and outpatient clinic settings and his Nurse Practitioner experience includes internal medicine, family medicine, urgent care, and clinical research.
