Chief Executive Officer: John A. Calderone, PhD
John A. Calderone, Ph.D., has been the Chief Executive Officer of Olympia Medical Center since 2006. Before assuming his present position, he served as the Chief Executive Officer of Corona Regional Medical Center for 10 years. He was the Chief Executive Officer of several other hospitals located in Orange County.
Dr. Calderone has over 35 years experience in the healthcare industry. Previously, he held positions at a corporate level for over ten years with three different healthcare systems where he directed the marketing, planning and business development functions.
Prior to entering the healthcare field, Dr. Calderone was employed at the General Electric Company for over four years in the Transportation Systems Business Operations Division as the manager of employee programs. Throughout his career he has been an adjunct professor teaching psychology, gerontology and Master level Healthcare Administration at different universities.
Dr. Calderone holds a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh and a post-doctoral degree in Psychology from Edinboro University in Pennsylvania.
Chief Financial Officer: Babur Ozkan
Babur Ozkan has been in the healthcare industry for 24 years. He has worked as the Chief Financial Officer of Olympia Medical Center for over three years. Prior to coming to Olympia Medical Center he worked as Chief Financial Officer for 6 years with Kaiser Permanente and 6 years with Tenet Healthcare Corporation.
Ozkan earned his MBA degree from California State University, Long Beach, California.
Chief Nursing Officer: Karen Knueven
Karen Knueven has been the Chief Nursing Officer since July 2010. Before assuming her present position, she served as the Assistant Medical Center Administrator/Chief Nursing Officer at Kaiser Permanente, Baldwin Park for 2 years. She was previously the Vice President for Patient Care Services of other hospitals located in Los Angeles County.
With over 25 years experience in Hospital management, Ms. Knueven also has 16 years in senior leadership positions.
Ms. Knueven holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing Degree from California State University, Dominguez Hills and a Masters of Science Degree in Nursing with an emphasis on Hospital Administration from California State University, Dominguez Hills.
